Piercing aftercare by day

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure safe healing and long-lasting results. Follow this guide carefully during your healing journey.

Day 1: Fresh Piercing

Your piercing is an open wound during the first 24 hours and must be treated with extra care.
  • Do not remove or rotate the jewelry
  • Clean gently using sterile saline solution
  • Avoid touching with unwashed hands
  • Expect mild swelling or tenderness
  • Avoid makeup, skincare, or pressure on the area
Healing starts immediately keep it clean and undisturbed.

Day 2–7: Keep It Clean

The first week is crucial for preventing irritation and infection.
  • Clean twice daily with saline solution
  • Avoid twisting or playing with the jewelry
  • Do not swim in pools, beaches, or hot tubs
  • Avoid sleeping on the pierced area
  • Keep hair, headphones, and tight clothing away
Light redness or clear discharge is normal during this phase.

Week 2–4: Stabilizing Phase

The outer layer may appear healed, but internal healing is still ongoing.
  • Continue cleaning once or twice daily
  • Do not change jewelry prematurely
  • Avoid harsh products (alcohol, peroxide)
  • Be careful to avoid accidental pulling
Patience is key to proper healing.

Piercing Healing time varies depending on the piercing area and your body’s recovery response.

  • Earlobe: 6–8 weeks
  • Cartilage: 3–6 months
  • Nose: 2–4 months
  • Navel: 6–12 months
  • Lip / Oral: 6–8 weeks
